In most facilities today, surveillance cameras are already widely deployed. However, real security risks rarely stem from a lack of equipment—they arise when systems lack the ability to see immediately, judge in real time, and respond without delay. During nighttime hours, in environments with limited staff or no on-site personnel, or even in a brief moment of human distraction, critical events such as smoke, unauthorized intrusion, or personal emergencies can easily be missed. The UniPicket AI Box, developed by UniPattern Corporation, is designed specifically to address this gap. Its core concept is simple and practical: integrate directly into existing surveillance systems and add real-time intelligence and proactive alerting to what was previously passive video recording.

UniPicket is built on an edge computing architecture. All AI video analysis is performed locally within the AI Box itself, and alerts and event video storage are triggered only after an event is positively identified. This design significantly reduces internal network traffic by avoiding continuous cloud streaming, while also ensuring that video data does not need to be uploaded off-site to enable intelligent analysis. UniPicket supports most mainstream IP cameras and DVR-based systems on the market, including ONVIF and RTSP streams, allowing existing infrastructure to be upgraded with AI-powered security capabilities without replacing installed equipment. As a result, organizations can dramatically lower both upgrade complexity and overall deployment costs.

A single UniPicket AI Box can simultaneously analyze video feeds from up to four cameras. Depending on the software configuration, each camera can run multiple detection tasks in parallel. The system supports a wide range of real-world detection scenarios, including human presence and intrusion, smoke and fire, scene movement or tampering, raised-hand distress signals, people collapsing, guarded object displacement, vehicle entry, unattended departures, abnormal lighting activation at night, and emergency lighting triggers. These scenarios are specifically chosen to address safety incidents that are often overlooked yet potentially severe in their consequences. Through configurable virtual fences, detection frequency, and sensitivity settings, administrators can fine-tune each camera based on site-specific conditions, reducing false alarms while allowing AI decisions to more accurately reflect real operating environments.

The alerting mechanism is another key strength of UniPicket. Once an event is confirmed, notifications can be sent instantly via mobile apps, desktop interfaces, and email. There is no limit on the number of recipients, enabling alerts to be delivered simultaneously to multiple stakeholders or management groups and preventing critical incidents from being missed due to reliance on a single notification point. Each alert includes event snapshots and automatically stores approximately 20 seconds of event video, allowing decision-makers to quickly assess the situation and retain records for later review or internal documentation.

UniPicket positions itself as a solution for environments with high risk but limited real-time manpower. Typical applications include entrances and perimeters, server rooms and power facilities, warehouses and storage areas, parking garages and basements, as well as semi-public spaces such as gyms, offices, and cashier counters. Any site that already has cameras installed can rapidly upgrade to an AI-enabled security system using the UniPicket AI Box. This “add-on AI” approach is particularly attractive for existing buildings and enterprises that want meaningful security improvements without disruptive system overhauls.

It is also worth noting that UniPicket is a 100% Taiwan-developed and manufactured product. Its technical team was recognized as an outstanding team at the 2022 Presidential Hackathon, and the product aligns with ESG and SDGs objectives related to workplace safety and health. In addition, it supports the principles of physical and environmental security emphasized in ISO 27001. As a result, UniPicket is increasingly viewed not only as a technical upgrade, but also as a component of broader corporate security governance and sustainability strategies.

By delivering a practical and deployable security upgrade, the UniPicket AI Box transforms surveillance cameras from tools for post-event review into systems capable of real-time response—closing critical safety gaps that manpower and time alone cannot cover. For organizations evaluating when and how to adopt AI-driven security, this edge-based, fast-to-deploy solution directly addresses current market needs for effective, actionable AI and stands out as one of the most viable options available today.
